Creating Discount Codes
Offer coupons and promotional discounts to your customers.
Overview
Discount codes (also called coupons) let you offer special pricing to your customers. You can create percentage-based discounts (e.g. 20% off) or fixed-amount discounts (e.g. $5 off). Coupons are available on all Sellr plans, including Free.
Creating a coupon
Head to your dashboard to set up a new discount code.
- 1Go to Dashboard then Coupons then Create Coupon.
- 2Enter a coupon code (e.g. WELCOME20 or SUMMER5).
- 3Choose the discount type: Percentage or Fixed Amount.
- 4Enter the discount value.
- 5Optionally set a minimum order amount.
- 6Optionally set a usage limit (total uses or per-customer).
- 7Set an expiration date if the promotion is time-limited.
- 8Click Create to activate the coupon.
Tip: Use memorable, easy-to-type coupon codes. Avoid special characters or confusing letter-number combinations like O/0 or I/l.
How buyers apply coupons
During checkout, buyers will see a coupon code field. They enter the code and click Apply. The discount is calculated and shown in the order summary before they complete payment. Invalid or expired codes show a clear error message.
Setting limits and expiration
You can limit how many times a coupon can be used in total, and optionally limit uses per customer. Expiration dates automatically disable the coupon after midnight on the selected date. You can also manually deactivate a coupon at any time from the Coupons page.
Tracking coupon performance
Each coupon shows its usage count, total discount given, and associated orders. Use this data to understand which promotions drive the most sales and repeat the strategies that work.
